After two years of decline, consumption of machinery for solid-liquid separation increased by 1.9% to 167M units in 2024. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a mild decline. Solid-liquid separator consumption peaked at 289M units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2024, consumption remained at a lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2024 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Mexico (93M units), Italy (89M units) and China (50M units) were the main suppliers of solid-liquid separator imports to the United States, together comprising 73% of total imports. The UK, Taiwan (Chinese), Japan, South Korea and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

From 2013 to 2024, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +18.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Mexico ($385M), Germany ($224M) and Japan ($144M) were the largest solid-liquid separator suppliers to the United States, together accounting for 46% of total imports. China, the UK, Italy, South Korea and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

South Korea, with a CAGR of +23.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average solid-liquid separator import price stood at $5.1 per unit in 2024, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a measured increase from 2013 to 2024: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, solid-liquid separator import price increased by +35.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2022 an increase of 28%. The import price peaked in 2024 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2024, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($48 per unit), while the price for Italy ($877 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+14.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2024, after four years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of machinery for solid-liquid separation, when their volume decreased by -3.2% to 150M units. In general, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 75%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at 155M units in 2023, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In value terms, solid-liquid separator exports totaled $2.6B in 2024. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $2.9B in 2022; however, from 2023 to 2024, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Mexico (44M units), Canada (44M units) and Germany (9.6M units) were the main destinations of solid-liquid separator exports from the United States, with a combined 65% share of total exports. Belgium, Singapore, China, Costa Rica, Brazil, Japan, Australia, the UK and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.

From 2013 to 2024, the biggest increases were recorded for Costa Rica (with a CAGR of +29.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($353M), Canada ($248M) and China ($238M) constituted the largest markets for solid-liquid separator exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 32% share of total exports. Mexico, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the UK, Brazil, Australia, Costa Rica and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

Costa Rica, with a CAGR of +27.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2024, the average solid-liquid separator export price amounted to $18 per unit, growing by 4.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $34 per unit. From 2020 to 2024, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2024, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($202 per unit), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($4.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
